James has been in love with Real Estate since the age of four and his first game of Monopoly. As a 21-year-old entrepreneur, he received a contractors license and went about building a company that eventually employed over 38 people and had long-term contracts with some of the largest builders in the country.
After building several custom homes and forming an investment arm, Suner formed the James Group in 1999 to pursue real estate development and construction full time. James has been an active and well-respected member of the Gilroy community, serving as the Vice Chair of the Downtown Specific Plan Task Force, ex-President of the Gilroy Downtown Business Association and a current board member. He also completed the Leadership Gilroy program.
Through extensive course work with Urban Land Institute and continuing education seminars, Suner has stayed at the forefront of land planning and entitlement issues. James lives in Gilroy. He is an avid motorcyclist, traveler, and golfer. His positive attitude and irrepressible sense of humor make an indelible mark wherever he goes.
Successfully developed numerous residential/mixed use projects in several jurisdictions. The projects were vertically integrated and consisted of land acquisition, feasibility analysis, CEQA review, public hearing approvals, tentative/final maps, architecture, construction documentation/construction loan funding, project management, sales and marketing of the finished homes.
Initiated several investor groups, formed new LLC’s, negotiated strategic joint ventures with other builders/developers, worked with City Council’s /Staff to facilitate regulatory/policy changes.
Completed high level planning applications including General Plan amendments/updates, Specific Plans, Master Plans, re-zonings, and associated environmental reviews.
